Sam takes on MT Kilimanjaro

This February, our Director Sam will be taking on MT Kilimanjaro to raise money for Cancer Research UK.

Mike Tansley, Paul Kay, Kevin Ryan, and Sam James are heading to Tanzania to take on Africa’s highest peak, Mt Kilimanjaro, to raise money for Cancer Research UK. The group will be trekking up to 5895m as they take on the tallest free-standing mountain in the World.

Each group member has been personally affected by the awful disease so they want to raise as much money as they can for the charity.

“Last year was really challenging due to a close family member being diagnosed with cancer. Thankfully he is doing well after undergoing surgery and chemotherapy. Unfortunately, my co-director at Shakespeare Media lost her Mum to cancer in late 2019 after a brave battle. Cancer has affected all four members of our trekking group. We want to raise as much as possible to help research and ultimately do our bit to increase survival rates” – Sam James

After 6 days of trekking the Rongai route, the team will begin their summit during the early hours battling through ice, snow, and temperatures as low as -20.  The Rongai route will see them trek for over 40 hours and cover nearly 70km.

The trip is completely self-funded with all donations going directly to Cancer Research.
